The Post-licensure (RNBSN) program is designed for registered nurses who wish to go beyond RN certification and earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN). Students join together in cohort groups and take all of their nursing major core classes together. The courses in our RN to BSN program are taken one at a time in sequence, allowing the major to be completed in about 19 months. The program is designed specifically for adult education and degree completion students who prefer guided independent study, practical professional application, and a collegial relationship with faculty and other students.

The Post-licensure (RNBSN) undergraduate program may be completed online, or at various locations in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio in a blended modality, with some courses onsite and some online. All students need access to a computer and high-speed Internet service in order to use our learning management software system to receive grades, course materials, and other information.

The RN to BSN Completion Program builds upon the foundation of previous nursing education at the associate degree level to enhance the theoretical concepts of the science of nursing. The RN to BSN Completion Program is evidence-based and developed according to best practices using the following professional standards: National League for Nursing Competencies for graduates of baccalaureate education; Quality and Safety in Education for Nursing Competencies; and American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials of Baccalaureate Education. The program incorporates both didactic and practice experiences in the curriculum with the practice experiences using both direct human interface and indirect learning situations that allow the student to apply concepts in the course to clinical scenarios in a simulated environment. Graduates are prepared to function as nurse generalists in a variety of healthcare settings. All students are required to complete a capstone project in a clinical setting.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN). The RN to BSN program is designed for registered nurses with an associate’s degree or diploma in nursing. The format and courses of the regionally accredited program are tailored to meet the needs of the adult learner RN, and to maximize strengths that the working RN possesses. A bridge course facilitates the transition of the working RN into the baccalaureate program. Courses are taught by experts in their respective fields who share knowledge and experience in areas of clinical patient care, health care management, and professional nursing practice and leadership. Opportunities are provided to apply concepts, theories, and research in the RN’s clinical practice. Both the science and art of nursing are integral components of the program and are woven throughout. The curriculum covers nurse competencies, management and leadership, health assessment, statistics, research, trends and issues, ethical decision-making, family-centered health, public health, and spirituality in health care. In addition, the student’s learning will culminate in project proposal to resolve and issue or problem in the nursing practice. Graduates of the program are prepared to become effective leaders in the nursing profession.
