The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provide care to ill, injured, disabled, or convalescing patients under the direction of registered nurses and doctors. These nurses take a patient’s temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, and they provide other basic care, including bathing patients, monitoring catheters, and dressing wounds. The education programs for these nurses take about one year and are found at technical and vocational schools.
