Central Connecticut State University
The nursing program was established in 1981 and accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN) in 1986 and 1994. The program was accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in 2001, which is a branch of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). In 2006 we were awarded a 10 year accreditation by CCNE. The nursing program has a reputation for preparing graduates with exceptional theoretical, clinical, and evidence-based practice skills to work in a variety of settings. There are a number of nursing scholarships available and the prospective student may check with specific professional organizations or the school of nursing. The nursing department offers a baccalaureate program to Registered Nurses (RN to BSN); the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) designed to prepare a liberally educated person to function as a professional nurse in varied roles and health care settings. The program requires 125 credits. Upon completion of this program, graduates are expected to be professionally competent generalists in nursing, recognize the need for continued personal and professional development throughout life and possess the educational background for post-baccalaureate study in nursing. Information sessions regarding the BSN program are held throughout the year. Call the department at 860-832-0032 for further information regarding these sessions or the current semester course listings. http://www.ccsu.edu/

ENHP - College of Education, Nursing & Health Professions
If you are a registered nurse who plans to return to school to complete your baccalaureate degree, our program is designed for you. It allows you to complete your BSN degree on a part-time basis in a supportive, caring atmosphere with your peers. Courses generally meet one evening per week in late afternoon or evening. Community-oriented clinical placements occur in the final two semesters and are designed to accommodate various working schedules. As a transfer student from a diploma or an associate degree program in nursing, you enter the University of Hartford with 60 or more credits earned toward your BSN. However, we recognize that you bring much more than prior college credits to our program. Therefore, your clinical experiences and those of your classmates are a vital component of our curriculum and valued by our nursing faculty. Our faculty encourage you to bring patient care issues to the classroom and classroom learning to the workplace. The RN to BSN program was the first completion program in Connecticut. Our focus has always been oriented to the adult learner. Dr. Arthur Chickering, internationally known for his work in adult education, has taught us that "Adult learners are those people for whom being a student is not their primary role." Therefore, we are always looking for ways to facilitate advanced study for nurses that takes into account their unique needs as individuals and professionals as we strive to create a Community of Scholarly Caring. The Nursing Program at the University of Hartford is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the State of Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education. http://www.hartford.edu/

Southern Connecticut State University
In the classroom, students learn not only patient care; they also explore the role nurses play in promoting and maintaining health, theories of management and leadership, and legal and ethical issues facing today's nurse. Classroom assignments address real community issues. For example, students recently developed a program on how to make homes safe for children, which was aired on Connecticut Public Television. Others designed an interactive Web site to support diabetic teenagers, and still others investigated how two-way video phones can improve care for homebound patients. These students acquired the broad perspective necessary to be effective caregivers in an always-changing healthcare field. Hands-on experience is essential to nursing education. First, students work in Southern's interactive nursing lab developing basic skills like health assessment, dressing wounds, suctioning, and administering medications. Laboratory experiences are then augmented with direct patient care opportunities in a variety of settings, including hospitals and community agencies. http://www.southernct.edu/
